Named in honor of Peter Brennan, founder of the Irish band, The Turfmen, this group was formed in early 2007 in order to promote traditional Irish dance. Performing both Ceili and step-dancing, these ladies have entertained local audiences as well as taken part in ethnic parades and several regional Irish festivals. The ladies are instructed by Cassandra J. Evans of the Thunder on the Plains project, more information below. For information on booking the Brennan Irish Dancers for fundraising events, local, and regional gigs, as well as special occasions please contact Colleen @ jbmcherman@aol.com or Lynn @ gingergirl113@yahoo.com .

The Thunder on the Plains
Project is a company co-founded by Cassandra J. Evans to help positively promote
and encourage artistic expression and appreciation of the midwest's heritage -
more specifically, the Midwest's Celtic Heritage. Our primary focus at this
time is on Irish Dance for performance as well as offering classroom
instruction. Over time our goals go further into making the Celtic arts more
accessible to the community such as sponsoring and bringing in artists to hold
workshops on their specific fields as well as holding Ceili's and the like.
Cassandra has been in Irish Dance for over 10 years - her primary focus in the
past has been on Ceili Dancing (Irish Social Dancing). However, over the past
five years - she has begun furthering her knowledge on Irish Step Dancing,
studying in a workshop and classroom settings under Catherine Shearer-Bishop,
Jenny Carroll-Chavez & Colin Dunne, former lead dancer from Riverdance. Between
her pride in her lineage and the joy of sharing it with others - her enthusiasm
towards the dance and the music is contagious.
